Letting Go: A Guide to Releasing What No Longer Serves You

Thank you Autumn for teaching us to let go
Thank you Autumn for teaching us to let go

Here in Alberta, the changing seasons always remind me of life’s natural rhythm. In autumn, the trees don’t fight to keep their leaves—they release them, making room for what comes next. There’s such wisdom in that.

As a Counselling Therapist and Hypnotherapist, I see how deeply people carry things—stress, judgment, regrets, or old stories. And the truth is, it’s heavy. But you don’t have to keep carrying it.

Why Letting Go Matters

Letting go isn’t about erasing your past. It’s about loosening its grip on your heart. Healing and letting go is an act of kindness toward yourself. It allows you to move forward feeling lighter, more at peace, and more open to what’s possible.

A Gentle Way to Begin

You don’t have to let go of everything at once. You can start small. Maybe today it’s just noticing one thought you’re ready to soften your hold on. Maybe tomorrow it’s choosing compassion instead of judgment. Each little step is part of the process.

Journaling Prompt for You:What is one story, thought, or habit I no longer need to carry? How would it feel to finally set it down?

Here in Alberta, many people don’t realize that sessions with a Counselling Therapist are often covered by extended health benefits. That means support for letting go may already be within reach.

If your heart feels ready to release what’s been weighing you down, I’d be honoured to walk that path with you.

With care,Lesley 💜
