Learn how mindfulness and non-judgment can help reduce stress and anxiety. Counselling, therapy, and hypnotherapy support available in Alberta.
Do you ever feel like your mind won’t stop racing? Maybe you replay conversations, worry about what might happen, or judge yourself for not “doing enough.”
This constant stream of thoughts can feel overwhelming. But mindfulness offers a different way.
One of the key attitudes of mindfulness, taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is non-judgment. It’s the practice of noticing your thoughts without labeling them as “good” or “bad.”
Imagine your thoughts as clouds drifting across the Alberta sky. Some are light and wispy. Others may feel heavy, like storm clouds. But no matter what they look like, all clouds eventually pass.
When you practice non-judgment, you begin to see your thoughts the same way. You don’t have to cling to them, fight them, or judge yourself for having them. You can simply notice, breathe, and let them move on.
✨ Try this:Take a few moments today to pause. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and notice the thoughts that appear. Instead of getting caught up in them, imagine placing them on clouds and watching them float by.
This simple shift can help reduce stress, calm your nervous system, and create more space for peace.
🎧 I’ve created a 3-minute Mindful Moment Monday meditation to guide you through this practice. You can listen here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hxLmZYpSBFOzIAsH6OajN0mCDSBRS08_/view?usp=sharing
If you’d like deeper support, I offer counselling, therapy, and hypnotherapy sessions online or in-person across Alberta. Many extended health plans cover Registered Psychiatric Nurse Therapists.
You don’t have to carry the weight of your thoughts alone. Mindfulness can help you breathe a little easier. 🌿
